Collections
We are specialists in 20th Century studio pottery and glassware. Our collections include pieces from such well-known studios as Midwinter, Parkinson, Poole, Troika and Whitefriars as well as other great English and Scandinavian design studios.
Please contact us if you require assistance in finding a particular piece for your own collection or if you have a piece you wish to sell.
Midwinter
The designs I am interested in are abstract and well designed pieces by Terence Conran, Jessie Tait and not the floral style.
Parkinson
Susan and Richard Parkinson started in the early 50's in Kent and ran until the early 60's. The designs of Susan Parkinson are superb and have now met with the acclaim they deserve. Recently there has been an exhibition at the Gary Grant Gallery and a book written by Carol Cashmore and Tim Vincent this will cement their place in mid century ceramic history. Parkinson pieces already command a high price, which is sure to rise in the next few years for the rarer pieces especially when the auction houses pick up on it.
Poole
The Poole pottery I am interested in comes from the Studio, Freeform, Delphis and Atlantis ranges and dates from the 1950's to the 1970's. The designs of this era I feel completely encompass the change in design from the 50's to the 70's from the restrained designs of the freeform to the wild psycadelic Delphis range to the earthy carved Atlantis designs which epitomise the 70's hippy era.
Troika [1 product currently listed]
Troika originated from St Ives Cornwall in 1963 and the factory moved to Newlyn in about 1970. The St Ives pieces are becoming the most popular with collectors but even the Newlyn pieces are now making very high prices. We have an important collection with many great pieces and are always interested in purchasing unusual pieces. I also always have a selection of pieces for sale mainly in Emsworth Antiques Centre and we will be posting items for sale on the web site. Keep a look out for these.
Whitefriars [4 products currently listed]
I am particularly interested in the Whitefriars Glass designs of Geoffrey Baxter and what is known as the “textured range”. In my mind these pieces epitomise the design of the 60's and have now become an icon of this era.
