About Us
Design Explosion is a small friendly business that started about 10 years ago selling anything that was a little unusual: painted tin ware, garden objects, small decorative items, brass and pewter etc. This gradually developed into a large collection of 50's, 60's and 70's design classics and kitsch, from lighting - such as lava and rocket lamps - to china, glass, fabric and even 60's bars!
More recently I have focused my collection on 20th Century design and designers. Pieces of early english furniture from designers such as Robin Day and Ernest Race as well as Italian and American pieces; pottery from studios such as Troika, Carn, Bernard Leach, Tremar, Midwinter, Poole and, just recently Parkinson; and glassware from studios such as Whitefriars (especially Geoffrey Baxter), Riihimaki, Holmegaard, Orrefors and Per Lutken.
I now run my business from two prime locations, Southsea and Emsworth. I have also been selling on ebay for the past 3 years.
